SUNNY JIM

The International Society of Typographic designers (ISTD) is a prestigious professional body run by and for typographers, graphic designers and educators. Each year a number of briefs are set by ISTD for aspiring graphic designers and Typographers to showcase their typographic skills.

I chose to tackle the ‘Makers’ brief. The brief asked us to celebrate the life of a craftsperson from our local area, through a typographic way.

This project was created to celebrate the life of a local creator, Jim Mcdowell, who was the editor of the Sunday World Newspaper for over a quarter of a century in Belfast, Ireland.

Using typographic layout, detailing and interpretation, I have created a newspaper that colates major stories from the era of the troubles in Northern Ireland.
